ASTEROIDE 101955 , alcanza -1.5 en la escala Palermo 101955 es el asteroide con más riesgo acumulado de impacto, a fecha 25 de enero de 2009, sobretodo por la aproximación de 2182 (Palermo -1.52 JPL). La escala Torino no se aplica a periodos mayores de 100 años, sino entraría en la categoria 1. El cálculo previo, nos indica como periodo de mayor riesgo el comprendido entre 2180 y 2188 cuando el nodo del asteroide se cruza con la órbita de la Tierra a menos de 10.000 Km. En 1916 Sep 10, la distancia entre los nodos (Earth MOID) era de 0.0041 U.A., mientras en 2086 Oct 18 (Earth MOID) = 0.0015. La velocidad de aproximación de los nodos es de 2288 Km/año. Por tanto, extrapolando, la máxima aproximación de nodos tiene lugar en 2184. 101955 es un asteroide mayor de lo que se creía en función de su magnitud H=20. Tras las mediciones de Arecibo, alcanza un diametro de 560 metros. La velocidad infinita es de: 6.36 Km/s.en el evento del 24-25 de setiembre de 2182. Por tanto, la velocidad de impacto es 12.9 Km/s. Siendo su densidad próxima a tres veces la del agua y su diámetro de 560 metros, se obtiene una masa de 2.758576E+08 Tm. La energía cinética es de 2.288095E+19 Jouls. De chocar, equivaldría a 6.410.000 Kilotones de TNT. El cálculo del JPL indica un riesgo para el evento de 2182/9/24 de P=0.00026 y de 0.00028 para 2182/9/25.
